Cingoli. also called the "Balcony of the Marches", offers from its 631m above sea level. unforgettable views of the surrounding hills, about the countries, on the plains up to the sea .
Belonging to the San Vicino mountain area between the Potenza and Musone rivers, the current territory of the municipality of Cingoli extends over approx. 147.980 and it is largely covered by scrubs and woods, which contribute to determining its interest from a naturalistic and environmental point of view.

The name Cingoli derives from the Latin cingulum, that is the small plain that protrudes on the side of a mountain surrounding it in whole or in part. The oldest coat of arms is deduced from the first seal used by the municipality in which bishop Esuperanzio appears, regent the banner, placed on the tip of a mountain of six peaks, encircled by a decorated band.

The origin of Cingoli has generally been linked to the name of Tito Labieno, lieutenant of Caesar. Speaking of his advance in the Piceno, Caesar himself mentions Cingulum and recalls the contribution in men it had made to his party in the civil war.
Rich in history with its Renaissance palaces, the historic churches among which the Collegiata di S. Esuperanzio , the Municipal Art Gallery which houses a valuable Madonna del Rosario by Lorenzo Lotto, the Archaeological Museum.

Excellent starting point for hiking and mountain biking, for walks in the beautiful town and along the lake.

Not to be missed in August is the historical re-enactment of the Balloon Game.

Reachable from the A14 exit Ancona Nord and the Superstrada per Roma exit Cingoli and from here 20 Km. of state.

Those arriving from the west will follow the Foligno section – Camerino – S.Severino – Cingoli or Fabbriano then highway to Ancona and exit Cingoli a from here 20 Km. of state.
